Neighbors blast hunter for skinning game in yard

Family Upset Over Man Skinning Game In His Yard

LEWISVILLE (CBS 11 News) ―

A Lewisville family is angry that their neighbor is skinning game animals in their back yard.

"I don't want to see it. I don't want to see it at all," Frank Hlatky said. "You can't get rid of that stench."

Santos Garcia is a long-time hunter and says he's been processing meat in his back yard for years.

"I would say 80 to 90 percent of the times we bring the deer back, and we take care of it here, and we put it in the freezer," Garcia said.

Sunday, Lewisville police went to Garcia's house to investigate. City animal control and code enforcement officers went Monday.

Texas game wardens say hunters are asked not to offend the non-hunting public, but in this case they say Garcia has done nothing illegal.

"The person that shot the animal has the right to process their own animal after they shoot it," said Texas Game Warden Daron Blackerby.

The dispute between the two families doesn't appear to be ending any time soon.

"I don't feel that in a civilized community as close as we are - there's not 50 feet from my back door to his back door - that any civilized family should have to witness that," Hlatky continued.

The Hladkys say they may just give up and move.

Maybe they will find a place where meat is grown in plastic packages, instead.

Sounds like a workable solution!

Yep, we got people moving to Montana from other non hunting areas. Then they want to change what lifestyle we have here... we tell them the road you came in on, is paved both directions.

That is the best solution. You don't like the view from your back door, move somewhere else. Don't try to make everyone around you conform to your wishes. A great deal of our trouble today is pushy people trying to make everyone conform and us reasonable people trying to compromise to keep the peace. But to those liberal wanks, compromise means give in to what I want, and I won't shut up til you do.

Yep we sure have now we buy chickens all cut up at the market and let people like Tyson sell us our salmonella all packaged up. I chopped a lot of chicken heads when i was growing up. Thankfully mom did the plucking...

Joe B., you just encapsulated the entire political scene that has put us where we are in this country today!

I think it's about time we started pushing back!

What? Can't get rid of that stench? My father-in-law has killed and processed more meat in his back yard than the local locker plant and his yard doesn't stink. Move to California you hippie. Since when does anyone have to care what thier neighbors think?

Good thing he didnt live next to me and my father and brothers growing up. We all hunted and were taught how to live off the land and that included killing animals and gutting and skinning. My father was also a trapper. I could just see this guys face now if he lives next to us and saw half dozen raccoons, minks, fox, yotes, etc hangng in my back yard and then smelling them and seeing my father skin and dry the pelts. affraid

hahahahahah this reminds me of a story. I didn't trap much growing up..always slip hunted..but a nieces husband DID trap and convinced me to go with him to check his traps. I told him I really didn't have any interest in it..but he insisted...so I went with him.
we go to his first trap (he livetrapped) and he hands me a billy club. well..in that trap is one mother huge coon. I said "randy, I don't know about this..how about I get him out and you hold the club"...no no he said, I don't want this one to get away.
well..he opened that trap door and grabbed that coon with a heavily gloved hand..and that's when the fightin commenced. that coon twisted and bit him RIGHT on the kneecap..then proceeded to work on his leg.
Randy yelled "get him off!! get him off!! hit him, HIT HIM!". I replied I'm afraid I'll hit you!..Randy yelled "hit him anyway!!" so I wound up and swung..and hit randy RIGHT in the upper thigh. He let go of the coon, and went down. The coon gave me a look like "thanks!! but no trouble or you're next!!". right about that time I was wishing for my pistol. The coon turned round and took off.
Randy?
he went down, fairly well mauled by an 18 pound female raccoon and 1 swing from a 2 foot billy club"...
that's the last time he asked me to go with him to check his traps.
