winchester model 1300 re-assy help!

Post by dieseldan on Sun Oct 11, 2009 8:55 am

Hello, i am new here and i have a 20ga model 1300 and i was cleaning it today for the first time and i had the trigger assy already removed. I then took out the front pin that goes through the spring assy for the shell loader ( i am not up to speed on the technical terms). When i took out that pin the springs popped up and now when i put the pin back in the loader won't go up and the safety button fell out. I know something is out of alignment, but i don't know what. If anyone could help me out on this i would greatly appreciate it. I am leaving on a hunting trip this wednesday.

Thanks for the link. I obviously went too far in my disassembly. I will have to get my local sporting goods store to fix it for me. I don't want to break anything.

Unless the have a in house gunsmith there your probably dealin with folks that dont know much more if any about it than you. Local gunsmith might be your best bet.

You want to sell it? lol!

Those fire controls are kind of sandwiched together. Just how in heck you got far enough to get the safety button out though, you went way father than simply driving out the cross pin that holds the fire control into the bottom of the receiver.

If you are that far into it, there are no behind the counter types generally going to be of any help, unless they are gunsmiths with either years of experience, or you happen to just find some guy that really knows a 1300,

As I recall, you had to have nearly all the parts out before the safety button it self could be removed, and on top of that, there is a detent that prevents if from falling out with out help as well.

Only thing I can imagine, is that perhaps you are mis naming some parts, and you might not be in as deep as it sounds. I think the part you are calling "the loader" is likely the carrier, and if you took that pin out, it does take three hands to get it back, but again, thats still along way from the safety button. And if you are in that deep, for certain a smith is likely going to be required.

I could certainly do it if the part was in hand, but I dont forsee any way of talking you through it.

Ron
