Re: Anyone having any luck.......
Well my order made it in today. Not to bad, 2K of once fired 223 military range brass, only $63 per K. This is range brass and is not processed. Depending on how shiny you like it will mean how much work to get it ready. Myself i'm not that particular so i figure an hour to hour and half in the tumbler will be good to go for me.
Just checked the website and they still have 223 brass listed for sale so if anyone needs some once fired 223 range brass give it a look at:
http://www.cheyennebrass.com
They also have some 9mm, 38 special,357 Sig, 40 S&W, 45ACP, 308 military and 30-06 if anyone is looking for brass. I have delt with this outfit before, they are a good place to buy.

Speaking of tumbling brass, if a guy is in a hurry, add a few spoons of liquid metal polish, brasso, etc. to the media.
Dont soak it in total, just what looks about right. this will renew "old worn" media, and will cut down the tub time by a bunch over plain dry media.

Re: Anyone having any luck.......
WOW
I was just over at the Tackle Box, a local sporting goods store. I've been looking for more small rifle primers to cover the 2K of brass i just got. They only had 400 in stock, which is 400 more than anyone else around has, but guess what they wanted for them.... $80 per K, or in this case $8.00 per 100... just last Oct i bought top notch primers for $17.50 per K. Sure glad we aren't being ripped off.. Course the gas station next door wasn't ripping people either... Gas was $2.499. At the local station it was $2.359 this morning, wonder what it will be tomorrow when i go for coffee...

I would recommend the Lee 4 hole turret system. At about $140 + or - it will do you a great job. Everyone i know that has one likes it real well. It is a single stage press that has the advantage of letting you have all your dies set up on a disk so that you just move from one die to the other without a lot of time pulling and resetting the dies. You can even have different cals set up and ready to go with just a simple quick change. About as cheap a setup as your gonna get outside of a plain C clamp type single or a used one and it does a very good job. Lee dies are quite good fairly priced and will work with about any press you get now or later on.
hahahaha I've got one of those "c clamp" type single presses. while I'm not as fast as someone with say, a rock chucker, I do fairly well. I am lucky, where primers are concerned, I have over 5k pistol primers and around 1k rifle primers for my ammo.
what I DON'T have is time..between dealing with a fish emergency (found one of our gouramis, I think I put the volcano down on it when I was working on the fish tank the other night) and building a computer desk/hutch/office space, I haven't been able to get to a post office for Volzfan.
*sigh*

Re: Anyone having any luck.......
I would love to get my hands on 300-500 CCI small rifle magnum primers. All stores are Zero-Balance with their stocks. Guess I will have to be patient. All other supplies are readily available.

Are the stores you speak of accessible through the internet? If so what is their url?

Yes, most are online: Wideners, Midsouthshootersupply, Cabelas, midway, etc. Everyone is currently out. Locally, store are out too. I may be forced to trade some of my small rifle primers to get some small rifle magnums.

Yeah, that's pretty high. Last box of 1k SR primers I purchased was $45. And that was for CCI #41.

Re: Anyone having any luck.......
Havent been any new primers available in this area for several months. I saw some old stock odd boxes last weekend at a show priced either 6 or 8 bucks a hundred.
I did score 3 cartons 209 Shotgun primers at 40/thousand. Again, old red white WW boxes. Not recent manufacture.

Re: Anyone having any luck.......
A couple of years ago, I started to stock up on reloading supplies, not some possible prediction of things to come, but it was getting to the time that I need to load up 10k or more of some ammo for my own use.
I was collecting WW for casting, making up my own bullet lubes, buying up brass and more. I had to put my reloading aside for a few months because of things going on with my farm. Then the election campaigns started. So I started to buy up a few things here and there and put them away. Then Obama was getting popular, so I bought up stuff when and where I could.
Now I think I am stocked up for the next 4 to 6 years. Please remember that I live on a farm, I need to have the ability to get rid of pests and also to hunt for food.
I am well set at the moment, but the freezer is getting a little lite on meat and we planted our veggies about 3 weeks ago. Plus we can, dehydrate, freeze, smoke, etc to store up food.
Good Hunting,
Jerry

Re: Anyone having any luck.......
My local guy got in a fair shippment of primers the other day. H sold out of the Rem LR in a couple days. Several thousand of them. He had 30k of fed. SPmags, 30k fed LP mags, 50k Rem SR, 30K rem SP, 40k Rem LP. and about 40k each of Rem. SP and LP.
I got there too late and only got 600 Rem LR, which is what I needed. I set on SP and LP and SR primers.
The primers and powder around here is getting better.
