Polishing- What do you think?
I have a friend of mine that is working towards being a gunsmith. He is going to Sig for a training session soon. He has done some work on his old Sig P228 that was in rough shape. He has done a lot of polishing on his and has offered to do some on either my XD-40 or my new Sig. He did more on his than I want but I would like to do all but the slide on mine. Here is a before and after on his.

Looks good, but would be wary of removing any finish that would inhibit rust.

It definitely looks better then it did. But I agree with 2HOW about removing any finish that would inhibit rust.

I believed those parts are all stainless steel parts he polished, but are 430 sainless not 340 so spectal rust migh show if the pistol stored in a damp area. A silicone wipe will prevent that, other thought would be store it in a siliconcone gun sock.
That is nice work anyway you look at it. He took a mutt and turned into a show dog!

It looks great, how do you keep it like that? I'd cerama-kote or duracote it...
