Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Post by brickmanDan on Tue Jan 05, 2010 9:42 am

In these tough economic times none of us get to shoot as much as we would like especially me. So what i have done to stay sharp on my handling of weapons is to practice mag changes in my long arm and side arm from all sort of positions ie prone, kneeling, flat on my back, one handed, standing ect, ect. I do most of this in the house with checked and rechecked magazines for live ammo. Dont need no accidents. Ive actually enjoyed it and I have found some areas where mag location on my person is better vs others as far as quick reloads are concerned.

Enough of all that,

Now im wanting to move on to on to long arm transition to side arm. I have the standard 2 point sling but am thinking I need to try for a different type of sling.
Ive been looking at the 1 pt sling and the 3 pt sling and am kinda torn on which one to purchase to use in defensive situations.

Check out the videos and give me your thoughts on which on you prefer or have experiance with. You military guys i would like to know your thoughts especially and point me in a dirction of training with a particular type sling.

sorry my post won't help much, but really, you just have to try some out to get a "feel" for them.

personally, i like the 3 point slings, but that's really only after trying different styles out and personally liking them more. i have friends that swear by 1 pointers and feel awkward w/ anything else. i'm not entirely lost w/ a 1 point sling, but i'm just more familiar w/, better trained w/, as well as more comfortable w/ a 3 pointer. i guess if i started out w/ and practiced a lot more w/ a 1 pointer, then i just might like those more.

btw, i have a specter gear sop sling
http://www.spectergear.com/sop_sling.htm
and a spec ops mamba
http://www.specopsbrand.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=62

i like both a lot. one is on my benelli m4 and the other goes on the ak wannabe. neither is really significantly more comfortable than the other for me. really, the main difference i notice is that the specter gear one doesn't have any metal parts while i think my spec ops one does.
