They're soldiers..they should be ARMED!!!!!

Regarding the mass shootings in Ft. Hood, Texas. For God's sake, arm our soldiers at all times with a sidearm loaded and ready to rock! Why not? Our soldiers have many, many deadly enemies. Enemies that are not all in other countries.

Think about it. Any of our soldiers, either in uniform or on a military base, are automatically linked as being members of our military whose job it is to fight and often kill our enemies. Now usually this fighting and killing goes on in foreign countries. But those enemies that our military is fighting and killing have friends, relatives and fellow terrorists right here in America. What better way to strike back at our military than for one of those "martyrs" to get onto a military base (petty easy) and smuggle in firearms (pretty easy) and then at the right time just simply open fire on unarmed, defenseless soldiers as they sleep, work, go to chow, or just generally go about their business while unarmed. My God, it is such an easy, effective and fool-proof plan(for a martyr) to get revenge against the American military that I sadly predict it will happen numerous times in the future.

To put this into perspective, can you imagine the howls of protest if suddenly all the police in America were required to disarm themselves when the higher ups thought those police were safe? Such as when the police are off duty and going home or at the station and there were no visible bad guys around? Or when there was a lull in local crimes and the higher ups felt there would be no violent crime for the foreseeable future? Well, that is how American soldiers are treated. If those soldiers are on a US Military base and the higher ups decide there is no danger, all the soldiers firearms are locked up. This is even true in foreign combat zones such as the Green Zone in Iraqi.

Folks, this is madness to disarm American soldiers. If someone is actually able to predict the time and location of the next violent attack against American soldiers, then that predictor needs to use their power of seeing into the future and just buy themselves a winning lottery ticket, win millions and then retire and let the real soldiers do their job. Or, if someone is able to predict the next violent attack by terrorists, shouldn't everyone just stay home that day? (sarcasm)

Bottom line, in the modern world with all its unpredictable dangers, arm each and every soldier with at least a sidearm. The dangerous ones will soon be taken out by the vast majority who are no threat and will now be armed. What could make more sense?

For a police officer to be unarmed is to be out of uniform. But even back in the first gulf war under George Bush Sr., there were reports we had men guarding our ammo supply dumps over there with unloaded M16s.

I guess they would have to court martial me because if I was issued an order for guard duty, unarmed, in a foreign war zone, guarding supplies that a re a hot target for the enemy, I would either steal ammo out of the supplies or refuse the duty.

Repeat after me, "Our government does not trust its own soldiers with loaded weapons, unless battle with enemy forces is deemed imminent." Then disarm them as quickly as possible and after discharge try to disarm them for the rest of their lives, if they can draw up some cockamamie excuse that he or she is emotionally unstable and suffering mental anquish and post traumatic stress disorder, even when they are not.
