How would you rate the staff here at AGO
Just trying to get a feel of how the members think staff is doing right now. We are always looking to improve the forums and are willing to take constructive criticism from any who are willing to give it.
Also i would like to remind all of you to put Americangunowners.net in your sig line in the other forums you frequent. Help spread the word!
Go ahead, and dont be bashful. Let us know how we are doing.
Even if you don't want to post your opinion about mods please at least vote in the poll. Votes can't be traced.

Re: How would you rate the staff here at AGO
I have been on a lot of gun boards. I have left many been asked to leave a few more. The greatest thing I find here is that no one really seems to have an agenda.
Might well be one of the last bastions of free speech left in this wilderness we claim to be America.
The down side for me is that their are so many members that do not offer an opinion. But maybe that is the way of America now.
Thank you to Gun nut and to all the moderators. please do not change this board. There are far to many places in America that stifle free speech and an open sharing of ideals.
For my nickel I'm glad I returned here.

Re: How would you rate the staff here at AGO
As a former mod here in teh early days, I saw the start of arbitrary enforcement of not just rules, but personal opinions of how things should be. The person(s) who were overzealous and overcontrolling are no longer aboard or in a position to force "made up as they go along" rules.
It has settled back down into the board that I first joined. Free to interact as you wish, as long as we are respectful of each other and do not turn a discussion or a debate into a personal flame war. I requested my moderatorship to be removed early on, because I thought I may have inadvertently contributed to the problems instead of the cure, but I still enjoy my time here as a member and keep coming back. I too would like to see more posts and opinions. Some may fear being tromped on. I think those days are past and all the administration in place has been seasoned under fire and this is the way the board will continue from now on.
This simple rule will help all get along. Stop a second before replying to a post. Are you replying to the opinion or information expressed or to the poster? Are you arguing with the opinion given or the opinion giver? If you have facts to dispute an opinion, simply say, "this is the information I have gathered on the subject" and post it. If you simply disagree with the opinion but only with your own opinion, then say something like, "I can't argue with facts at this time, but my take on the matter is this and is just my personal viewpoint" and say what you think on the matter not the poster.
For me, widely varying viewpoints are what make a discussion board interesting. If I wanted to hear echoes of my own opinion I would record myself and have it on loop playback in the background. And I am not interested in fights and petty pissing contests. So all in all, I think that AGO has settled down from its rapid growth and attendant growing pains and is a nice place to spend some time and exchange ideas.

Re: How would you rate the staff here at AGO
Dan, thanks for the opportunity to express how I feel about this board. I also want to comment on the posters here as well as the staff.
I've been on other boards and have been disappointed on the whole because the posts I've made (and you all know my style here) have gone with few or no comments. The ones I have gotten have NOT been efforts toward discussion, but hit and run crap.
I want intelligent conversations and find them here on all posts. All you guys have something to contribute, and do it well. Thank you. What's going on in this country stinks, and it's been good to finally find such a fine group of kindred, Patriotic spirits.
Another thing of note is the level of respect to be found here. It doesn't exist on many boards. The fact that everyone self-monitors is a rarity in a cyber forum where trolls otherwise abound.
I like the way this board is run; the couple pms I've received from mods have been respectful, considerate and well framed. No heavy-handedness to be found. Also refreshing.
So, I want to thank everyone here for giving me a home where my opinion is valued and considered worthy of comment.
I appreciate everything about this fine board, although I have to agree with jd and would like to see lurker-members join in and post more, because if they've already joined here, IMHO, they will also have input that can expand well the discussions.
In short, kudos to GunNut and the mods, as well as all the rest of you.

2 not so good votes huh. Thats
. This is a very laid back forum with good people. it has evolved the way a forum should. One thing to remember when you start a forum it takes on the personality of the members and in fact ceases to be the founders but become the members forum. Good moderation done with fairness and consistency is key and IMO is what we all get here. So thanks to the mods and the members and Gunnut for letting this thing evolve.

I voted 'A' because I enjoy the time I spend here reading ,always learning new stuff,
and LMAO sometimes with some of the comments. I dont do any long posting
because I dont type good [2 fingers] and at my age my spelling sometimes needs
the dictionary.
To do quotes or try to add things to posts hey forget about it.
I enjoy the site and the like minded folks here and will do whatever I can to help
out here.
Thanks for a good place to spend time at.

Dont let that stop you my friend all i have is a HS education. I can guarantee that i will not let the grammar and spelling Nazis get a foothold in this forum. Its very rude and has no use other than to degrade the member.
Ok, now whats your excuse?
glad to have ya aboard 308nato!

hey, 308nato - you do well! Ditto on your dictionary stuff.
My frame of reference was the other board I post on; there area few decent posts, but those short replies are glib, superficial and contain no thought whatsoever, just done to boost a post count.
Not at all the caliber I've found in ANY poster here, except the humorous posts, where they are funnier than... well, you know...

If the 2 dissenters would care to express their opinions, I would like to hear them. That is if they are honest opinions and not just an anonymous chance to get a dig in at Dan's expense.
If there is a problem bring it to light, and if you have been personally damaged or attacked unfairly, by all means we want to know. So, you tossed in your votes, now lets hear your comments.

Re: How would you rate the staff here at AGO
I had to give us an A!
I liked the way the board was run when I first joined up. So much so infact that I threw my name in the hat for a moderator several months ago. The key to being a good mod is to have good members. if a moderator has to exercise his mod power often, then there is a problem with some of the members. If a mod very seldomly has to use mod powers, that is a testament to the membership as a whole. I have only had to mention something to a member once since being on the mod staff, and it was not much to that.
Basically, good members make the board what it is, and make a moderators job on the board boring. As it should be.
