A fun day at the range
Sunday i took a friend to the range. He has a gun, but hasn't shot it for years. Its a S&W all metal 40SW. It shoots good but has about an 12 pound trigger pull. I loaded up a bunch of guns and ammo for all and off we went to the range. I took 200 rounds of 40SW so he would have plenty to shoot. He shot his gun for awhile and i let him try my little compact Taurus 40SW... he was surprised at how easy it was to shoot with the light trigger. I then let him shoot my 1911. It was the first 1911 he had ever shot and also his first 45. He loved it... I then let him shoot my Taurus OSS 45 and he liked it too, then i handed him my Springfield XD in 45 and you should have seen the look on his face the first time he fired it... He fell madly in love with it and shot the heck out of it. He also got to shoot his first AR15, and his first SKS. He also fell in love with the SKS.
Anyway we spent 4 hours shooting and went through about 600 rounds, mostly 45acp and 7.62x39. He is now all hopped up to go back to the range again, and he wants to buy the XD... I think i may have created a monster...
Anyway, i now have a shooting partner when ever he can get away from work...

While you're flush with good feelings from a positive range sharing, maybe you will appreciate this tid-bit:
Because of the square footage,my invalid mother is lodged at my nieces house. This weekend I took over all the care thing so my niece could take her son on a 2+ day Cub Scout camp out activities thing.
At the end of the event they posed for a gigantic group picture with the top center guy being the most popular scout leader for the event.
Would you doubt that he was a home on leave Eagle/Scout Marine who helped them earn thier knife ticket, and did all the archery,BB gun and sling shot training and skills sets.
Gosh I wonder why he was so popular?(this gives me great hope for the future)
Oh,they "unofficially" voted my niece the "coolest mom" EVER!

Nice work..Americana flourishes in some pockets of America, no matter how hard liberals try to stamp it out.
I'm particularly proud of our boy scouts. They stood up to homosexuals, crooked congressmen and just about everyone else that wanted to take them down and they're still here.
they still teach all the things that a boy needs to learn in order to grow into a man and they still have the coolest motto on the planet, bar none.
"be prepared"
that simple 2 word motto has helped me in more situations than I can remember.

I used to tease friends about being some "Dudley Do Right" Boy Scout type but in truth it's much like being a Marine,or any former military,it's a mindset and it's for life.
Although this campout had Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in attendence my niece was the only mom among thier Cub Scout troop. When she told me of the event I set her up with a serious full function knife,multi-tool,some pellets, shoot & see stickons,BB's,siting in targets, and lubed and prepped a couple of her dads BB and pellet guns and found a small bag of balloons as an after thought.
When I said super mom,I mean according to my nephew all the scouts thought she was the mega mom because she was totally prepared,or in his words I still don't understand why the scoutmaster laughed so hard and teased my mom when she got her duck tape and stapler out of the car but my friend said you're mom "Rules."
What I took away from all this is that kids are starved for people to pay attention and put some time in to caring and getting involved.I've decided that the Wolf badge must really be because they're so hungry for input and knowledge.
And it appears that when you get it right they "Notice."

That great when Parents can be role models like that. Like they say being prepared is #1
