I recently acquired one of these as a form of minimal body armour protection. It is evidently GI un-issued Flak vest. Obvioulsly this vest wont stop 7.62 ammo but is it safe to assume that it would stop .45acp or other slower moving pistol cartridges? Or is this vest only good for shrapnel type protection or possibly 00buckshot?

Im hoping Towerclimber can weigh in on this because eveidently this is the style of Flak vest that was issued during the eighties or possibly the early nineties.

Census Law

Posted by Walter Block on March 10, 2010 12:56 PM

I pass this along letter on the census for your information, only. I do not counsel anyone to break the law. Of course, I’m not real sure of what the law is. A direct and literal reading of the U.S. Constitution it seems to me, a non lawyer, is clear as to what the law is: people are legally obligated, only, to cooperate in a head count for political representation purposes. But, my fear, my expectation, even, is ...

I am sort of new to the pistol world but have owned long guns nearly all my life. My sister (can you believe it) and brother in law recently have introduced me to shooting and pistols.

I have owned a .38 special that belonged to my grandfather for several years. I kept it around mostly for protection until the shooting interest came along. ...

I found this out while researching reloading receipes for it.

here's the Hornady approved, M1 Garand specific receipe for IMR4064 powder, using a 168 grain HPBT bullet.

min load: 41.4 grains Max load: 47.2 grains MinOAL : 3.240

it is NOT suggested, from the research that I've done, to shoot anything greater ...
