Obtaining your C&R FFL is very easy.
As far as benefits go, you can buy C&R guns without going through an FFL dealer. You can have them shipped directly to your front door, even from out of state dealers/sellers. You can also get some pretty good discounts at places like MidwayUSA, Brownell's, AIMSurplus, etc. There is a large list of companys who accept C&R FFL's for discounts. The discounts can be on items other than C&R guns.
Here's a link that has tons of info. It's the site I used to get started.

It was no problem at all to get the C&R FFL. I've had mine about 6 weeks now. I got it because I was told that you could get some great discount on ammo but I haven't found that to be true, yet.

Ammo discounts are VERY difficult to come by, period. The C&R FFL is really no help with ammo. I found gun parts and accessories to be where the C&R FFL discounts come in handy. There are lots of site that accept the C&R for dealer discounts, but I've found MidwayUSA, Brownell's, and sometimes AIMSurplus to be some of the best.

They probably could but I don't think they would check you for no reason. They can check anyone they want. I'm going to look into getting my CR FFL but I don't buy that many old guns.

Yes, but you have two options - they can come to you, or you can go to them (field office). And they don't just show up out of the blue unexpectedly.

Re: ? for you C&R license holders
About the C&R license guys I just learned something very interesting .Our license covers C&R ONLY... If you try to buy a modern gun you will have to go thru the NICS again. If you use one of your C&Rs as a trade for modern weapon NICS again. If you use a modern weapon for trade or part of deal for either modern or C&R NICS again. The only thing our license is good for C&Rs buy/sell or trade C&R for C&R and of course out of state sales and transport Now probably you guys know this already or I'm running around with my head in a hole But if it helps any of you thats good

Try this site, all the information is here: http://curioandrelicfirearmsforum.yuku.com/
A very useful forum in my opinion, especially helpful in getting a C&R FFl.
