What's the ammo supply like in your neck of the woods?

Post by Volzfan on Fri 29 May - 18:48

I've been seeing posts on local forums here in TN about how Wally World is pretty well stocked on most all calibers around here now. My cousin called after visiting one in south Nashville today. They had most everything but had started a 6 box limit. What caught my attention is that all of the Blazer Brass is still being sold for the same price that they were selling it for at the 1st of the year!
It sounds to me like our distributors that stock our local gun stores are just taking complete advantage of us. How come WM can still sell at the same price? I know that they can sell their ammo at what it costs others to buy because of the vast amount that they buy. WM forces the people that they buy from to accept very small profit margins so that WM can sell cheap and still make a decent profit.
I saw James post about finding primers at $80 per 1000 when they had been at $17 per 1000. Notice that I didn't blame the stores but they may be partly at fault too.
While I know that this is not a new thought I would love for someone to catch these distributors, and even the manufacturers, with proof that they have been sticking it to us just like the POTUS and his guys are trying to do.

I was surprised to see last week Walmart had no pistol ammo except 22s and only odd ball rifle ammo.

Drying up the components has everyone wondering. Loaded ammo does seem to be available, though dont try to buy 5 56 around here, cause none exists anywhere at retail level.

But I dont shoot but maybe a 10 or 15 rounds of factory ammo a year, apart from 22 LR.

they could make a regulation, day after tomorrow though, and have ZERO private primer sales or some such and cut sport shooting in half or more.

Just got back from a steel shoot locally, they had maybe 50 shooters. but several mentioned that they were getting nervous about replacing the primers shot today.

I have a couple thousand or more of each size, but I can promise, I wont be doing too many more competition shoots until something levels out. At least not with reloads.

same here dan. I am itching to get the 1903A3 out, but I hate to shoot up 200 rounds, with primers being so hard to get. I have not fired more than 50 rounds of anything other than .22 in 3 months. hell, even .22 is a bit scarce around here. Walmart sells out of the bulk packs of .22 in a day.

Walmarts here were reported to have good stock on most calibers about Tues. or Wed. of this week. I was at one locally today and there was still a decent supply so maybe the hoarding has nearly ended.

I reload so have plenty right now. There is no 380 of any kind in Lufkin. I have 3 folks that want some. I drive by Academy 2 times a day going to & then home from the church. NONE.

Today they had some 9mm & a little 357. No 38sp.
Gunshows here are selling it at outrageous prices.

Same here. I have seen it traded for 45.00 a box. We went to the Pasadena Gun show a couple of weeks ago & one guy actually gave 32.00 a box for 2 FMJ.
