I was just at a LEO demo shoot this Friday and here is the bad news direct from all the major ammo manufacturers, Keep a year supply on hand and order a year in advance. Winchester rep stated that the factory has the capicity to produce 200,000 rounds per day. He said that if they stopped taking orders now, that they couldo not fill all the back orders they currantly have on order by the end of the year. Some ammo is taking 18 months to delever. Ther is a lot of therorys as to why but the one that makes the most since is that the normal guy or gal who would go into the gun shop and buy 1 or 2 boxes of ammo is now buying 1 or 2 or more cases. Thus the demand is exceading the supply. Most of the factories are not planning on building more factories or expanding operations as they feer that the hipe will die and it will return to somewhat of a normal in a year or so.

Ammo supply? What ammo supply? I have seen 5.56/.223 going for a buck a round. Very hard to find reasonable 9mm and .45acp ball ammo too.

For the first time in almost two months, my WW had some 9mm. The only way that I got in on it was that I stopped last night and the manager told me that the manifest said that they were supposed to receive ten boxes this AM. I got there a little before 7 and when he came out and saw me, he asked me how many boxes I wanted and when I confirmed that it was the WWB bulk pack, I said four and he went to the back and got them for me. He said that he would wait until the LGS's that buy and resell came and went to put the rest out. He also got .22lr, 25acp, .40 S&W, .357 SIG. Didn't see any .45 or .380 but that was the most ammo that I've seen in months. No bump in price yet either.

The local Cabela had powder in last week, most of the local stores have some ammo, but not much, Wally World has empty shelves.

I have a good supply on hand. Plus I reload my own and cast most of my bullets.
